Has anyone yet managed to get a close look at the new "MacIntosh Revealed" book yet? If so, I'm sure all of the rest of us are waiting with bated breath for a review of it!! 1. Does it have good examples? 2. We all know what Andy Hertzfeld said about it, but could it replace IM? 3. Is it worth the (presumably) $50 for the whole set? I think answers are of general enough interest to post, but mail is welcome, too Kim Helliwell hplabs!analog!kim

I've got the first volume of Macintosh Revealed. It makes a GREAT supplement to IM -- everyone should have it. It doesn't replace IM by a long shot, since there is a lot of detailed information that simply isn't there. The second volume (which hasn't hit the stands yet) may help there, but I think IM should be on every MacHack's bookshelf. chuq -- :From the carousel of the autumn carnival: Chuq Von Rospach {cbosgd,fortune,hplabs,ihnp4,seismo}!nsc!chuqui nsc!chuqui@decwrl.ARPA Your fifteen minutes are up. I purchased a copy of MacIntosh Revealed (MR) as soon as I saw one. It is excellent for my needs. I am a student, and am working on programming the Macintosh more for fun than for profit. I have access to IM, but am much more pleased with MR. There are examples in PASCAL, with instructions on how to use the calls from Pascal, and Assembler. The examples are well done, and are easy to convert to C (My favorite). Anyway, I liked it. It does good for me. ---------- Ronald Reagan: America's favorite placebo [The fortune program] ---------- Alan Clegg USMail: 2801-23 Brigadoon Drive Hacker at Large Raleigh, NC 27606 "I am not a crook" Net: ALAN@NCSUVM.BITNET ALAN@NCSUVAX.BITNET Bell: (919) 851-3246 NOTABC@TUCC.BITNET Brand -> UUCP: allegra!psuvax1!ALAN%NCSUVM.BITNET@seismo.CSS.GOV New -> ihnp4!seismo!NCSUVM.BITNET!ALAN@seismo.CSS.GOV ----------
