[net.misc] "filth"

Here's a lovely can of worms for you:

What *is* filth? I certainly don't consider a woman's breast to be filth. I
can even condone X rated films with Marilyn Chambers and her ilk, baring
her tonsils (from an uncommon vantage point, admittedly) for all to see. After
all, she was not forced to do the movie, in fact, she claims to even enjoy
them. I would assume that so do her male co-stars.

Now, little girls on film against their will *is* filth. So is a murder,
but unfortunately, it is also reality. Ronald Reagan announcing he is trying
to cut taxes by cutting Social Security, Watt proposing the rape of the
wilderness, Jo-Jo pawing an insensate girl - those are all filth, yet they
fill our air and cableways in some form or another.

If sex is dirty (and *who*, for God's sake, ever said it was!), then how far
less filthy it is than some of the other crap our medias give us. *What* filth
do you see on HBO? I see more in the New York Times! But certainly, reality
must strike us all at some time in our lives, so I would say that those who seek
to censor the airwaves are more hiding from reality than "protecting" our
"innocents". The off switch is just great to keep *your* kids in line, but don't
tamper with my (or my future children's) mind.

(And just what is this crap about "not afraid to sign my name", anyway?)
