This is an idea that I've been batting around for a while, but since I'm not going to get around to doing anything with it, I might as well throw it out to the world: Pipes are great, but unlike the Mac interface they're not fun. Stick the arguments to awk somewhere appropriate (in an attached window, only visible when you doubleclick AWK, for example)... and viola!
