The September Issue of Dr. Dobb's Journal describes an implementation of a $500 Hard Disk for the Mac. It involves purchasing a hard disk, SCSI controller, and building an interface board to plug into the ROM sockets. Sounds like a great idea for the adventuresome. Does anyone know any cheap mail order sources for the required NCR5380 chip and a SCSI ST506 compatible controller, e.g. XEBEC S1410? It seems that 5M and 10M Winchesters are easily available from such places as California Digital and Priority One. -- (Ron Rusnak, U. of Chicago, ..!ihnp4!gargoyle!sphinx!ronr)
