[net.micro.mac] Mac Sources at Sumex

klute@gatech.CSNET (Gregory Kenley) (08/29/85)

In Mac.Digest #35 there was mention of several new sources now available
at sumex, such as : a shareware assembler, Freeterm v1.6, trans2, ufinder,
LAZlife etc. For the benefit of those who don't have arpa access could
someone post these to net.sources.mac?

I agree... I am always getting after the people at SUMEX-AIM about this,
as they have apparently quit posting things to the Usenet again; but they
seem to have started ignoring my "please remember to post" requests. My
impression is that they think the people on the Usenet don't really care,
that there are only 2 or 3 people out there who want the sources. It may
be, too, that people used to complain if they reposted something that had
already been posted before; maybe we should (a) be more conscientious about
posting to only one of the two, and (b) don't complain too much if they
accidentally repost something, since they usually don't know what has been
already posted, and after all are only doing it out of courtesy to the Usenet
users anyway.

All they have to do to post the files, though (unless something has
changed) is to mail the sources to some name like POST-INFO-MAC@UW-
BEAVER.ARPA and it goes into net.sources.mac automatically... maybe if more
people told them they were interested, they would be more prone to post
them? The person to talk to is

	...!ucbvax!INFO-MAC-REQUEST@SUMEX-AIM.ARPA

schwrtze@csd2.UUCP (Eric Schwartz group) (09/01/85)

And they take from here to put there also. I have read a good many
articles on info-mac that have come from here first. Interesting sources
from past days on net.sources.mac can also be seen in <info-mac> via
ftp to SUmex....Hmmm Looks like a double standard for u guys who dont have
Arpanaut access.
