Has anyone else out there had any success/problems with implementing the 'Engorge your Mac' memory upgrade posted to the net? I had a terrible time getting mine to work. I finally had to borrow a logic analyser to determine the problem. It seems to me that some of the circuitry is unnecessary, and additional circuitry needs to be added. I have piggy-backed rams on top of the bottom ones, done the modifications that I thought neccesary and finally got the thing to work. I can't see how the unmodified 'Engorge your Mac' circuitry would EVER work. Perhaps putting the circuitry on a separate board adds some delay which somehow makes it work by sheer luck, but it does'nt seem too likely to me. After getting mine to work, I have been using it quite alot. The 512K above the screen is used exclusively for RamDisk. This is not that bad, since you can have a large system file plus a couple of applications on the ram disk without eating away at your Fat-Mac's memory. It's also handy in a development environment. I use Aztec-C and can fit all necessary tools (compiler, assembler etc.) , plus all the Toolbox include files on the Ramdisk. The only problem I have found is that all the files that I want to preload the Ramdisk with don't fit on a single 400K diskette. This means a second disk must be inserted to get these files loaded. Oh, well, I guess this problem will go away when the 800K drive is out. Since doing the 1M upgrade I don't need the external drive. (It would be nice for transferring files from disk-to-disk, but is not neccesary) ..ihnp4!ttrdc!djs (a friend's account) Frank Owen
