[ouch] Does anyone have a program for UNIX (4.2) that takes a postscript file created by the Macintosh and downloads into to a LaserWriter? There are programs for the Mac to do this (one with the Inside LaserWriter material and the printer driver itself). We however have our LaserWriter hooked to our VAX. We are producing Scribe files and other files that we download to it using normal postscript. It seems that the Mac, though, uses a set of special functions that must be made available to the LaserWriter before it can understand a PS file spooled by the Mac printer driver. Apple says in Inside LaserWriter that they will release the syntax of these commands in future editions, but for now ... BTW, I'm spooling the PS file by holding down the command-F keys immediately after choosing File/Print... with the LaserWriter selected by ChoosePrinter [but nothing connected to the printer port]. I want to upload the spooled PS file and download it to the LaserWriter. At first I thought this was no problem, but it seems that there are these additional functions that the LW needs defined. (Is this what the LaserPrep application does?) Thanks for any help, Chris PS I will be willing to write such an application (to download spooled Mac documents) if I can get info on what the LaserWriter needs to set it up. -- _______ |/-----\| Chris Warack (213) 648-6616 ||hello|| || || warack@aerospace.ARPA |-------| warack@aero.UUCP |@ ___ | {seismo!hao | tektronix}!hplabs \ |_______| !sdcsvax - !sdcrdcf!trwrb!trwrba!aero!warack || || \ Aerospace Corporation, PO Box 92957, LA, 90009, Station M1-117 ^^^ ^^^ `---------(|=
