I was thinking about buying a Mac, but I'm afraid that I might as well wait for any or all of the following enhancements Apple has announced or is planning: double sided microfloppies new rom external hard disk port apple supported hard disk video output port apple supported 1 meg memory open architecture mac I'd like to get this stuff before december, a good month for christmas presents and last minute tax writeoffs. Should I hold my breath? hplabs!follmer

Most of the new features mentioned in the original article are not expected to be announced officially until the stockholders meeting in January, and I would guess that they won't be available to end-users until at least the summer. So, if you want to get something for this Christmas, you probably aren't going to get much more than what everyone already has. The only new things are the products in last week's announcement: the Hard Disk 20 (which includes the new hierarchical file system), ImageWriter II, the new modem, and Switcher. By the way, I'm not sure, but you still may have about a week or two left before the Apple $250 rebate offer closes. Actually, it may be too late. I think you had to purchase the Mac by Sept 30, but you then have until Oct 15 to send in the form. -- Barry Margolin ARPA: barmar@MIT-Multics UUCP: ..!genrad!mit-eddie!barmar
