[net.micro.mac] Fonts as data files. drat.

schuh@geowhiz.UUCP (David Schuh) (09/25/85)

Over the last several months I have collected several Fonts.
Now that I have done my own 512K upgrade (DDJ) I can finally
start using a bunch of them. Unfortunatly it seems that
after binhexing them, neither Font mover or f/DA mover recognize
them. I probed some and found that the Type and Creator fields
where not set. I set them to the same as font mover uses. Well
thats not the end, it seems that all of them were saved as data
not resources. I think if I could change something to make
everbody think they were resources (twiddling with the file header)
everything would be fine. Alas none of the tools Fedit RMover Resedit
Redit, seem able to do this for me. Can anyone help?

thanks

Your fonts are apparently stored in the "old" font/DA mover format.
This required some sort of strange software to make it work. I don't
know any more than that.

The old Font Mover format is the same as the new one just a different
creator:

old:	creator FMOV	type FFIL

new:	creator DMOV	type FFIL

DA's:	creator DMOV	type DFIL

You can use setfile to change it, or shift click the file, shift click
the Font/DA Mover and use the open under the file menu.--
