[net.micro.mac] program to save fullscreen Macpaint

Silicon Beach Software makes a nice set of utilities for the Macintosh called
Accessory Pak1. That set includes the program paintcutter which works with
full screen MacPaint documents. The program has worked for the numerous
applications on which I have tried it. It does support saving full page
pictures to the clipboard for transmittal to other programs. Accessory Pak1
includes some other nice, although smaller utilities, such as a screen saver
and quick disk eject ( no longer needed with the Finder 4.1 shutdown command).
I have no connection with Silicon Beach Software.

I have found that PaintCutter is good and works as advertised. However, it is
just about the ONLY thing in Accessory Pak 1 that is worthwhile: if you buy it
be sure that PaintCutter makes it worthwhile! It does for me. Two other items
are marginally useful, a coordinates DA and a rulers DA that puts up MacDraw
type rulers in MacPaint. While both sound useful, especially the latter, I
find that I don't use them at all.

The screensaver program is nifty in that it shuts off the screen after a pre-
determined amount of "inactive time." You select the amount of time. It is
built into the system, so there is no easy way to defeat it once installed.
HOWEVER, it determines "inactive time" as NO MOUSE ACTIVITY!!! This means that
if you are trying to print a long document, for example, every n minutes you
will need to click the mouse or the screen locks up and printing stops! The
Silicon Beach font is nice, if you collect fonts, but precisely as useful as
Chicago (it is an "always bold" font like Chicago). As mentioned, the shutdown
DA isn't needed any more. They also give you the new Font/DA Mover, but you
have that already, don't you?

I am NOT saying Accessory Pak isn't worth it - PaintCutter alone definitely IS.
I'm just saying don't expect just all sorts of useful gizmos with it.
