Well, I think this whole discussion is a tribute to the authors of the
Mac.  The Mac interface is one of those "Oh yeah, so obvious, why didn't I
think of that?" sorts of things. It works so well, and is so close to
some kind of "perfection" that we forget that it didn't exist 5 years
ago. Remember when personal computers only knew how to say "A0> " ??
It's kind of like TSR, and their fantasy role-playing games. Before they
were on the scene, nothing, and afterwards hundreds of almost identical
rules sets appeared. People couldn't understand why TSR was so hot under
the collar either!
