There are several ways to tell if you have the hierarchical file system (HFS) running. (1) You should be able to create 2 files with the same name in different folders. (2) In a non-icon view of a disk/folder the folder sizes will be ??, since the Finder does not recursively go down the hierarchy to add up the total size. (3) If you run the Standard File dialog on the disk, you should see folders along with documents in the file name list. (4) Later versions of the Finder indicate HFS disks by darkening 1 pixel in the disk/folder window. This is at the left edge of the separator between the status area and the icons/file list. I don't remember how reliable version 25B of the HFS was, but I would be very wary about running any pre-release of the HFS. (For comparison, the final version was 28D, which is significantly later than 25B.) -- Larry Rosenstein Apple Computer UUCP: {voder, nsc, ios, mtxinu, dual}!apple!lsr CSNET: lsr@Apple.CSNET
