[net.micro.mac] mod.computers.macintosh -- where is it?

davidl@teklds.UUCP (David Levine) (11/05/85)

There has been no traffic at this site on either fa.info-mac or the new
mod.computers.macintosh since mod.computers.macintosh was created on
Oct. 26 (almost two weeks ago). Before mod.computers.macintosh, we received
info-mac digests two or three times a week. What gives?

As long as I'm writing to net.news.group, I'd like to make a few points:

o I protest that the name mod.computers.macintosh is far too long.
mod.comp.mac or mod.computers.mac would be equally informative.

o net.sources.mac should remain. It provides a valuable service to at least
15-20% of the Net community (although determining number of readers of a
group is difficult, the high volume in net.micro.mac indicates a large Net
    interest in the Macintosh).

If the high byte traffic of net.sources.mac is jeopardizing its survival,
I'd rather see it replaced by mod.sources.mac than deleted. However,
mod.sources.mac would reduce traffic at the cost of reducing the number
    of interesting programs.

o Discussion of deletion of groups in net.news.group does not constitute
"net-wide debate". I, like many others, do not read net.news.group. I've
been reading it for the last week due to pointers in net.micro.mac, but I
find the signal-to-noise ratio in net.news group too low to be worth
the time of wading through (!), and am unsubscribing effective today.
