[net.micro.mac] Change default baud rate in printer driver?

pvp@ihuxo.UUCP (Philip Polli) (11/07/85)

My only complaint about the Macintosh has been the time it takes to
print out documents. Unless you're willing to accept draft mode output,
you have to wait a looooong time for the imagewriter to finish printing,
in order to continue working.

To solve this problem, I recently obtained a mini-print spooler, and
connected it between my Mac and the Imagewriter. It does reduce the
time it takes the Mac to stop printing, but not by as much as I would
like.

Some investigation in Inside Macintosh reveals that the serial driver
controlling the printer is capable of outputting data at 19200 baud
(and supposedly even 57600!), but the default value is set to 9600,
the same as the input rate of the Imagewriter. Since my new print buffer
is capable of accepting data at 19200, I would like to modify my
system disk to use a default value of 19200 when writing to the printer.

Does anybody know where I can patch the system in order to modify
the default baud rate printer port output driver?
