[ ] Here's the problem. After about 20 minutes of operation, it sounds like the hard disk stops rotating, weird patterns start to appear on the screen and the machine just stops. If I try to reboot, I get the frowning mac (indicating a hardware problem) and a seemingly random error code, usually 05FFFF. (The hard disk doesn't start up either) After about half an hour, the machine will reboot properly, and everything seems normal. I've tried to run the memory test program, everything checks out okay. I tried running the ROM diagnostics (hit interrupt and reboot) but the error code doesn't correlate with any error codes I could find (like in the Dr. Dobbs article on fattening a mac) Unfortunately, the problem is extremely intermittent, for example, it died yesterday twice for a total of two hours, but ran overnight without a problem. Other relevant info, the hyperdrive is the older (soldered in) kind. The Mac was originally purchased as a 512K, so the hyperdrive alone (no extra ram) was installed. Any ideas, thoughts, hints?
