[net.micro.mac] Dungeons of Doom

jsp@unccvax.UUCP (Joel Patterson) (11/07/85)

I downloaded the Dungeons of Doom program and when I tried to
launch it, the menu bar initializes and the cursor changes to
the sword and then......

The Bomb! ID=15.

I think this is an indication of a bad download but neither
xbin or macput complain. I have tried to download it several
times but always get the same result.

Could someone who has this working please mail a copy to me?
I only need the application file but the macwrite document
seems to be trashed too, so including that wouldn't hurt.

Thanks,

jsp

I have also experienced similar problems with d of d. I downloaded
made up a disk and it ran fine for me and my 512. So I copied the
disk and mailed it to a friend with a 128. He mailed it back,
"untouched" and said it bombed in a fashion similar to the one
Joel described. I booted the disk I sent him and it ran fine.

Figure that one out.

BTW, has anybody gotten to the 40th level yet?

I have also been unable to get a version of this to play, it xbin's or
binhex's fine but crashes when run. Could some kind soul mail me a copy?

 Thanks in advance... Brian Ross

It states in the documentation for D of D that it requires a 512K Mac.
Btw, If the author is listening...
How about getting the Hall of Legends right. I'd rather see the 5 top
characters, not the last 5. Plus, it would be nice to see the scores!

HEAR YE HEAR YE!

Dungeon of Doom simply does not run on 128K Macintoshes. Many people
have complained of bad downloads; this is possible, as the game is
much larger than what some places are equipped to handle, either
in mail or news. However, if you get something out of xbin/binhex
that has the right icon, etc., the bomb is probably because you're
running it on a skinny mac.

As for success with the game... well, I've gotten about half way
down once or twice, but no farther. There's a fellow around here
who says he's gotten to orb, but was then unable to get out --
seems the up staircases started disappearing, or something. Any
independent confirmations?

Could some kind soul post the game mentioned

ncmagel@ndsuvax.UUCP (ken magel) (11/11/85)

I've seen lots of messages about how great this game is! Our node
received the documentation and the title screen, but never got the posting og
the game (grrrh...). Could some kind soul e-mail the game itself to me?
Thanks, in advance!!

I have found the ??weapon?? of a 512kMAC in Dungeons of Doom. It seem to me
that this should be a formitable weapon if used - but I cannot figure-out
how it is used. I was hopping in the dungeon to find some floppys
(maybe a Dungeons of Doom game - for a nice little diversion).
If you have been able to use this killer please send me mail.

PLEASE DO NOT RE-POST DUNGEONS OF DOOM: The volume in Net.sources.mac is
already at a level that is causing many sites to consider removing it.

Please do this:

Those with the requested software MAIL ken a short note saying that
they are willing to MAIL software to him.

ken: MAIL back to one person nearest you the request for him to send the
files.

This should help cut down the volume in the group.
