I have a Korg Poly-800, a Roland JX3P, and a Yamaha TX7, and an Oberheim DX. I was pretty happy with this setup, when suddenly these little Macintosh things started showing up at the office. They seemed pretty neat. Then I happened to see an ad for a company called Musicworks. They describe several interesting products: assorted hardware to interface a Mac to MIDI, an N-track MIDI recorder (MegaTrack), and a program (Midiworks) which can convert between MegaTrack and several existing Macintosh music editors, such as MusicWorks (Hayden), ConcertWare (Great Wave), and Professional Composer (Mark of the Unicorn). I wrote them for information, and they sent me a very nice flyer which was done on the Mac with a LaserWriter. And now for the questions. It looks like I could play a piece on my Roland, record it with MegaTrack, convert it to ConcertWare, correct my mistakes, convert it back to MegaTrack, listen to it on my Roland, and print it out on my ImageWriter. Is this truly possible? Does it work as quickly and easily as it sounds? And if this stuff is so good, is there anything out there that is better? I'm pretty fully extended on the equipment front, but this sounds *incredibly* useful to a mediocre (at best :^) keyboard player. Please MAIL me your personal experiences with this hardware/software, and any other Mac/MIDI packages you may have used. If there is enough interest, I will summarize to the net. Thanks in advance. -- Darryl DeFreese - Journeyman Unix Wizard UUCP: ...!akgua!ganehd!dld USNAIL: Northeast Health District 468 N.
