[net.micro.mac] DES for the mac

jww@sdcsvax.UUCP (Joel West) (12/04/85)

I've been following the DES controversy only peripherally, but
this struck me as somewhat odd:

MacSafe(TM) The advanced Security Standard for Macintosh.

MacSafe. So safe that the U.S. government forbids export!
Really! Encrypt your Macintosh files, using the widely
acclaimed American National Standard for Data Encryption,
all with a simple mouse click and your own code key.

Make your files private by hiding them in a password protected
	safe.

And within your safe, doubly protect your files in the safe's
	secret compartment.

MacSafe -- your Security Standard, whether you're foiling corporate
expionage or simply keeping the payroll figures quiet.

	Ordering Information
Special Introductory Offer $39.95. Suggested retail price:
	$69.95. Offer expires 12/31/85.

I don't wish to make fun of "Kent Marsh Limited, Inc.", but
from what little I know about DES, it seems a little over-sold
in this case.
