*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE *** I just received a copy of a new DA called MacEqn. It allows you to create equations within MacWrite, MS Word, etc. by pulling down a desk accesory and then using cut and paste to get it into your document. The program automatically aligns the text so that it looks right. No more fighting with MacPaint or MacDraw to get a complicated equation to line up properly. The program handles the following: 1) integrals, (2) summations (3)super and subsripted variables, (4) overbarred variables and nested overbars, (5) roots and exponentials, (6) products, (7) fractions, and (8) groups. Groups are the author's way of trying to support matrices. The author states that matrices are not directly supported but you can get them to look right with a group and a little moving of text. The program automatically prompts for endpoints of integration or whatever else should be expected. I think that this program is absolutely essential for anyone who writes documentation with equations in it. However, I do know the person who wrote the DA so I may be a little biased. The program is available from: Software for Recognition Technologies 110 University Park Rochester, NY 14620 (716) 461-0923 If you would like to see what the DA can do send me mail and I'll mail you a short MacWrite file full of equations. If enough people respond, I may post it to the net.
