A few weeks back I posted a request for help in choosing a text-only game for my non-technical spouse. I promised a summary, so here goes. First, thanks to the two dozen or so of you who responded. The summary, in brief, is "go buy an Infocom game". Not entirely unexpected, given the amount of work they've put into thier products. Several people recommended "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", though the first (and last) time my wife saw it on TV, her reaction was "that's wieeeerd". The "Enchanter" series also got high marks. The only negative comments were about the Witness/Suspect/Deadline series. The few people who mentioned them commented that these games couldn't understand the type of questions that a detective might ask. The most useful piece of information that came buy is that Infocom publishes a cheap (~$8) sampler disk. I've decided that the best bet is to give her the sampler, and let her choose from there. Thanks again to those to took the time to reply. -- David W. Smith {nsc, ucbvax}!tolerant!dws Tolerant Systems, Inc. 408/946-5667 [Standard Disclaimer]
