Several companies which offer RAM upgrades past 512K claim that their upgrades are compatible with the Hyperdrive. Among these are Beck Tech (800-227-2400), Micro Conversions (800-237-8622), and Mass Tech (800- 447-1215; they're planning to make a Hyperdrive-compatible upgrade available in January). I'm sure there are others. A while back I asked whether anyone on the net had actually used a Hyperdrive with a >512K upgrade. Here's what I found: I did not hear from anyone who has a Hyperdrive and >512K in the same Mac. The only informative reply I got was from an employee at GCC (the manufacturer of the Hyperdrive). He said that GCC does not certify any third-party upgrade as Hyperdrive compatible and that installing one would void the Hyperdrive warranty. Speaking strictly for himself (i.e., this is not something GCC says) he commented that rearranging Hyperdrive components to accommodate extra RAM could easily cause trouble. If anyone of you have seen an obese Hypermac, please feel free to post comments. Fred Wamsley ihnp4!sol1!s255
