I have been getting more and more upset about the commercials on WTTW/PBS. At first, there was one a night -- so few that I mentioned "commercials on PBS" to other people and got sincere inquiries about my health. Last night was disgusting! It was almost as if I were watching commercial television: that offensive United alligator; those wine commercials over-and-over; those half-witted people looking for bankers; etc. (At least they only come between shows!) And then WTTW has the gall to put in a 15-second slot that reads "most programming on WTTW is supported by listener contributions". If there is so much support by listeners, why do we have to listen to so many advertisers? I see only two alternatives for myself: either they stop advertising, or I stop subscribing. If less advertising means fewer hours, I will be happy with fewer, quality hours rather than more, abused hours. A despiser of television advertising, -andy kegel, BTL, naperville, il, ...!ihuxp!agk
