[net.micro.mac] ST506 for the mac?

lewis@axiom.UUCP (Lewis Gordon Pringle Jr.) (01/08/86)

A hardware question:

I have access to some ST506 36MB hard disks and I was wondering
if there is any way to use these on my mac. Does anyone know of any mac
upgrades or if the new Mac SCSI port would help???

Please - lots of detail - I am not a hardware person, and don't really
understand what all of these acronyms mean.

						Merry Christmas,
								Lewis.

ST506 (as I understand it) is a low level disk interface. The easiest
way to use a disk with an ST506 interface is to purchase any one of a
large number of disk controllers. A typical disk controller presents
a SCSI interface for control from the host and uses the ST506 interface
to control the disk. For the host end, the MacSCSI port would be just
the ticket.
