[net.micro.mac] HELP needed on HFS includes mild flame

jlr@we53.UUCP (JAN L. RICHARDSON) (01/10/86)

HELP! We recently got our Apple HFS 20 Meg drive and love it, EXCEPT-
we can't get MacC (consulair), MULTIPLAN, WORD, or anything else to
work. Microsofts products work occassionally, but MacC is having real
problems. We've tried loading the stuff several ways as Consulair
said if it was all in the root directory it should work, but to no avail.
Can anyone give me a way to load it on the disk so we can use our new
toy. (That's all it is at this point--a toy! because we can't use it!!!)

I would also enjoy reading the excuse of Microsoft and other as to why
they do not already have compatible versions out on the market. I have
a friend who is a liscenced developer---something we have been trying to
get Apple to give us info on for 4 months to no avail, another flame---
and he had access to a protocol of the drive ages ago, the real thing
"supposedly" last summer. Come on guys---get your **** together.

An HFS version of Mac C is due out Real Soon Now (staight from the horse's
mouth). It will be an upgrade of version 4.0 and 4.01, so if you're
running an earlier version it's gonna cost your more. More info:

I was finaly able to get somthing to happen with Consulair C
and my Paradise Mac10 running HFS and Finder 5.0 by doing the
following:

	1. Place all the Mac C application goodies in the root directory.
	2. Put all the .h, .rel, .* files there to.
	3. build a job file.
	4. Sit and wait 'til h**l freezes over, or the exec finishes
	   for a two line change.

or

	1. Wait 'til Bill Duvall (sp?) makes all the required fixes to
make his code compatable with HFS.

(I have gone back and created a pre-HFS volume and am using that
but the Dialog boxes are still a concept, misplaced buttons, etc.)

I am using version 4.0 (external s/n 7130) if anyone important is
listening (or reading), I HOPE THE FIXES ARRIVE SOON cause i am tired
of beating my head againt the wall.

Rick
