[net.micro.mac] Copyright Infringment on MacSCSI Boards

bass@fastime.UUCP (John Bass) (01/13/86)

When we published the MacSCSI stuff in DDJ we did so to help the general
hobbist on a tight budget, not to put others into business to compete with
ourselves or other dealers that have licensed the product.

We have heard of several independents selling boards identical to the DMSD
board and using the published software -- we will be filing copyright
infrigment proceedings against each of them shortly.

The product is available for license at a nominal fee. This includes a MacPlus
compatable board design as well as the original board -- plus updated comercial
quality software that is compatable with the new roms and HFS.

If you have an unauthorized copy we will trade it for one of our units in
exchange for the name, address, and tele number of the unauthorized supplier.

We will provide a fee free license to UNIVERSITY and High School clubs provided
that they distribute unpopulated boards to registered full time students only.
This requires a written request by a club officer and the groups advisor.
We think it is great for students to learn by doing. In fact nearly all of
our staff are all CalPoly university students tring to make it thru school.
