It was a one time problem caused by someone outside of the normal Reed development group. Besides that, Reed did everything they could to (1) find the idiot, (2) keep that sort of thing from happening again (including removing all posting priviledges for a while) and (3) taking full responsibility for the problem and trying to get it straightened out. To me, this is a great example of what this net SHOULD be like. > Since then, we've seen at least a megabyte of piddly, useless programs and > desk accessories written in Rascal. I've got a good question for Nathan: What have you done for us lately? I happen to use at least one Reed College DA constantly (Rasnix). I also find that even though their stuff is in Rascal their source gives me ideas easily translatable into other languages. They have a large body of knowledge that they aren't afraid to use in answering other people's questions. > To the people at Reed: I'm sorry to come down on you so hard. He's attempting to speak for the network when he doesn't know what he is talking about. I find Reed to be a great resource for the net, and I'd hate to think that one non-thinking malcontent causes us to lose it. Nathan, if you don't like it, don't use it. I'd take a look at YOUR contribution to the net. Reed tries, which is more than I can say for a lot of people who prefer to sit back and bitch. -- :From catacombs of Castle Tarot: Chuq Von Rospach sun!chuq@decwrl.DEC.COM {hplabs,ihnp4,nsc,pyramid}!sun!chuq It's not looking, it's heat seeking.
