I just pulled this off Compuserve, I don't know the source but, hey what the heck it looks offical! Macintosh+ Pricing and Availability ----------------------------------- The Macintosh Plus has a U.S. suggested retail price of $2,599 and will be available in late January through authorized Apple dealers and direct sales channels. The Macintosh 512K is available now in all channels for a U.S. suggested retail price of $1,999, which is a $500 reduction from its previous $2,499 suggested retail price. The MacWrite and MacPaint software packages will not be included with the Macintosh Plus, but are available now separately for a U.S. suggested retail price of $125 each. MacWrite and MacPaint are still supplied with the Macintosh 512K system. In addition, Apple is introducing 12 international versions of the Macintosh Plus simultaneously to address the more than 80 international markets in which Apple sells. These systems feature local-language software, manuals and keyboards that have been specifically designed for the Spanish, Japanese, French, French Canadian, Italian, Dutch, Flemish and Swedish languages. The Macintosh 800K External Drive has a suggested retail price of $499. To use the new drive with a Macintosh 512K system, the user needs the Macintosh System Update, which contains the new Macintosh Plus system software on disk. This disk will be available from authorized Apple dealers in February. LaserWriter+ -- Pricing and Availability ---------------------------------------- The LaserWriter and LaserWriter Plus work with Macintosh 512K, Macintosh XL or Macintosh Plus computer systems, as well as other manufacturers' computers. The LaserWriter Plus will be available worldwide this March, and will sell in the U. S. for a suggested retail price of $6,798. The LaserWriter is available now worldwide and sells in the U. S. for a suggested retail price of $5,999. Upgrades -- Pricing and Availability ------------------------------------ The Macintosh Plus upgrade kits for Macintosh 128K and 512K owners will be available from authorized Apple dealers worldwide in early March. The Disk Drive Kit will sell for $299. The Logic Board Kit will be $599 for upgrading a Macintosh 512K and $799 for upgrading a Macintosh 128K. The price of the Macintosh Plus Keyboard when sold separately will be $129. All prices are U.S. suggested retail. Existing LaserWriter owners can upgrade their printers to a LaserWriter Plus through a dealer-installable upgrade kit. This upgrade path allows LaserWriter users to expand their system as their printing needs grow. The upgrade kit will be available from all Apple LaserWriter dealers worldwide this March, and will sell in the U. S. for a suggested retail price of $799. For those LaserWriter users whose publishing needs grow to require a commercial typesetting machine, Linotype Corporation offers two photo-typesetters, the Linotronic 100P and Linotronic 300P, that use the PostScript language, are fully Macintosh- compatible and 100 percent plug-compatible with both LaserWriter models. These commercial typesetting machines ensure that customers who select Apple's Macintosh and LaserWriter products to meet their publishing needs have a complete, upward growth path. Special Rebate and Trade-In Program Details ------------------------------------------- Customers in the U. S. who purchased a Macintosh 128K, Macintosh 512K or 512K Memory Expansion Kit from an authorized Apple dealer between November 17, 1985 and January 15, 1986 are eligible to receive rebates on the Macintosh Plus Disk Drive and Logic Board Upgrade Kits. To receive their rebate, qualified Apple customers must obtain a rebate form from their local authorized Apple dealer, and by May 15, 1986, purchase a Disk Drive Kit, a Logic Board Kit or both and submit their rebate materials to Apple. Qualified customers who follow these guidelines will receive cash rebates directly from Apple. The Disk Drive Kit rebate is $150, and the Logic Board Kit rebate is $300. The rebate forms are available now from authorized Apple dealers. In addition, for $1,498, Macintosh XL and Lisa computer owners in the U. S. can trade in their systems for a Macintosh Plus and a Hard Disk 20 through participating Macintosh XL/Lisa dealers. The U.S. suggested retail price of a Macintosh Plus with a Hard Disk 20 is $4,098, so this trade-in program represents a $2,600 cost savings to customers who take advantage of the limited-time offer. This program will run from April 15 through August 31, 1986. -- "It's better to burnout than to fade away" - Neil Young Paul J.
