[net.micro.mac] HFS compatibility in MM 2.1

joel@gould9.UUCP (Joel West) (01/30/86)

Last night I had a chance to run Megamax 2.1 on a Mac 512 with HD20.
Forget it.

The editor seemed to work fine (meaning it was written with NAME/VOLNO
instead of VOLNAME:NAME code). However, the "Transfer" menu bombed
with an unable to launch error.

More significantly, I could not get it to find the include files on
the HD20, no matter how hard I tried. Placing them in the top
directory didn't work, nor did
	#include "hd20:mm:headers:event.h"
I finally gave up, unplugged the HD20 and added another floppy.
I was back to being able to do useful work.

I have no idea what MM's policy will be, but any company that charges
more than $5/disk for an HFS-compatible upgrade has got a lot of balls!

I talked to Megamax earlier this month and they told me that a HFS version
won't be ready until March (I wonder what takes them so long). Until then,
I have everything I need in the root folder of my HD20 - include files,
syslib, everything. This works fine except that 1) transfer will crash if
you launch anything outside the root folder, and 2) batch always crashes.
