I have a couple of programs which convert (Macintosh) MacPaint documents to Sun raster file format and visa-versa. These programs are written in C for a Sun-2 workstation. The programs have been quite handy around here as we have a mixture of Suns and Macs. One person even recoded the program in lisp in order to get MacPaint documents on his Xerox 1108 lisp machine! A prerequisite is the ability to transfer files to and from your Mac via some terminal emulator program (VersaTerm, MacTerminal, etc). We use the "macget" and "macput" programs on our 4.2 bsd vax. I wrote this code for "kicks" and will share it with anyone who wants it. Perhaps the most useful parts are the "packbits" and "unpackbits" functions which duplicate the Macintosh toolbox routines of the same name. Please respond via e-mail. If there is enough interest I will post the source to the net. -- Alan Olson ihnp4!mmm!olson

I have posted the source (shar) for the MacPaint to Sun raster conversion programs to net.sources. That posting includes some important usgae notes. Have fun. -- Alan Olson ihnp4!mmm!olson
