[...] Recently the files SoundInit and SoundPlay from MacNifty have been posted to net.sources.mac. These files are indeed in the public domain as well as a set of source files that allow programs to be written that can read in and play the sound that are captured using the MacNifty Sound Digitizer and the Soundcap(tm) program that is bundled with it. SoundCap(tm), by the way, is _not_ in the public domain but it is not copy protected. The source files in question are available from CompuServe Developer's MAUG, Delphi, and BIX. They are written in Mac C with lots of included assembly language. Anyone who wishes may certainly repost the source files onto USENET. The MacNifty Sound Digitizer and Soundcap(tm) are available from MacNifty Central in Minneapolis 1-800-328-0184 as well as some mail order houses including Programs Plus. A comprehensive review of SoundCap(tm) appears in this month's MacInTouch(tm) newsletter. I speak with (biased) authority as coauthor of Soundcap(tm) and author of SoundInit and SoundPlay.
