The Mac Plus has two(!) 16 bit wide banks of memory to get its 1MByte. The display is refreshed from one of the banks and the processor likely runs at reduced performace (as on a mature Mac). Does the Mac Plus run faster from the second bank of (unshared) RAM? Mike

Does the Mac Plus run > faster from the second bank of (unshared) RAM? > It doesn't seem so. My friend timed his 2 Meg Levco Monster Mac against the Mac+ on a number crunching PC layout program. He was interested to see whether Apple had used Levco's trick to speed up the Mac+ (the Levco upgrade was measured by MacWorld to be 23% faster than a standard 512K on spreadsheet calculations). No such luck. Levco was exactly twice as fast as Mac+ at number crunching. -- -------------------- David Fay AT&T Bell Laboratories Naperville, IL 60566 ihnp4!ihexp!dafa
