Does somebody know what causes the LW to screw up on A4? Is the error in the LW ROM's or in the LaserPrep or LaserWriter files? It doesn't seem to be the ROM's because the LW uses, nicely, the whole (A4) page when an Apollo is steering it. When the problem is with the LaserPrep or LaserWriter files, is it possible to correct the errors myself (with the known tools: ResEdit, Fedit etc.) and if so, could someone send me the patches. Does somebody know what the last version of the LaserWriter file is, the last vsn I've seen is v.1.1a1 (and it still seems to have the A4 error). If there is a newer and corrected version around is it then possible and allowed to mail it to me? I've also noticed that the new LaserWriter and LaserPrep have other TYPE's and CREATORs; LaserWriter was of TYPE PRES and is now of TYPE PRER LaserPrep was of TYPE PSYS and is now of TYPE LROM and was of CREATOR LROM and is now of CREATOR LWRT. Does that mean that those new Laser drivers work only with the new System (>= 3.0) ? Thanks in advance, Dirk Jan Smit {..,decvax, seismo, philabs}!mcvax!dirkjan

(line eater still around??) The latest version of the LaserWriter driver is 3.0, and it is supposed to fix the A4 problem (according to the release notes in the 12/85 Software Supplement, which just shipped this week). The Supplement also includes printer drivers for the ImageWriter (v2.2) and the AppleTalk ImageWriter. The new ImageWriter driver seems to work a lot better with my 2+ year old ImageWriter than 2.0 did. None of these drivers will work correctly with systems earlier than 3.0. Current System file version is 3.1.1, Finder is 5.2. A. Shebanow
