I have a problem. I recently got an apple 800K 2-sided drive, and along with it came a new system disk. It is labeled: NEW SYSTEM FOR 800K DRIVE + APPLE HD20 + IMAGEWRITER II It is in single-sided format. It also contains an application called system update which (supposedly) will update old system disks for you. THE PROBLEM: The system disk works fine to boot the system, however, the system update doesn't seem to do anything except update the finder and remove my old DA's. When I start up the system with an 'updated' disk, it gives me a system error when I insert a disk into the 800K drive. Copying the system file and the finder file does the same thing. When the system is started up with the new system disk (the one that works), I get a message that says 'using external drive'. No such message appears on an updated system disk. WHAT SHOULD I DO? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- allegra \ pyramid \ Rob Diamond, Rutgers Newark - CS Dept. harvard \ \ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ seismo > !topaz > !andromeda!diamond ut-sally / / sri-iu / pyrnj / "You can't have everything - ihnp4!packard / Where would you put it?"
