I am posting to net.sources.mac an updated version of a program I wrote called "unpit". This is a C program that is run on a Unix system to break apart an uploaded Macintosh file produced by "Packit" or "Packit II" into separate files for downloading. Separating the file into the component parts can obviously be done on the Mac with Packit but in many cases one doesn't want to download every file in the packit file to the Mac or may want to use some of the files on the Unix system. The major difference between this version and the one I posted some time ago is the ability to handle the new compression method available with Packit II. If you have been using the earlier version of unpit and have lately been seeing error messages about "Bad Packit file", they were probably due to the file being in compressed form. This version of unpit should solve the problem. Note: I've left a printf() statement in the program that prints out the name of each file that is being unpacked, along with the type, creator, and file size. Undefine DEBUG if you want the program to run silently. Allan Weber USC Signal & Image Processing Inst. (213) 743-5519 Arpa: Weber%Brand@USC-ECL Usenet: ...sdcrdcf!oberon!brand!weber
