[InfoWorld Vol.8#12, March 24, 85, NEWS page 3 ---Werner] SOME MACINTOSH APPLICATIONS MAY HAVE PROBLEMS ON MAC PLUS A bug in the system software sent to some Macintosh developers prior to the Macintosh Plus' introduction is causing some software - including Microsoft's latest version of Multiplan - to fail. "Under 5% of the developers are affected by this bug," said Chris Espinosa, Apple's system software product manager. "It is definitely our problem. Microsoft did not code their application wrong." A small portion of developers were sent Version 3.1 of the Macintosh System File to include on start-up copies of their program disks. But an error in that version that went undetected by Apple during its testing procedure means that products incorporating Version 3.1 won't start up, Espinosa said. The developers sent the faulty disk have been sent a revised version, 3.1.1, which corrects the problem, Espinosa said.
