[net.micro.mac] "is anyone developing a macintosh-based unix?"

Does anyone know if a Macintosh-based UNIX will ever become available?
If so, is it possible to preserve the Macintosh interface AND have the
UNIX environment available?

The information gleaned from Bob Denny's BBS posting indicates that the
MacWorkstation will provide this type of interface between Macs and
mini/mainframe systems. Does anyone have any more information/dates on the
MacWorkstation?

Unix will probably be ported to the Mac eventually, but not for quite a
while. The 'new Mac' will have a better chance of getting this, especially
if it has a 68020. There will be a nice Unix/Mac interface protocol design
in the MacWorkstation, so that portion of the work is practically done.
