I am embarking on a project that aims to make the Macintosh into a generic workstation - mainly in the field of industrial automation. I am not a supporter of "re-inventing the wheel" and therefore would like to come into contact with others that have done or are doing something similar. Specifically, I am developing a parameter driven dialogue/presentation application that connects to a microVAX2 ELN process via a yet-to-be-defined protocol (lower level than AppleTalk). I am using MacC (4.0) together with MacExpress and a skeleton is already working. Please mail me if you have common interests in this area. I've picked up a rumour that someone out in netland has developed a "MacWorkstation" that is a Mac-based application providing a host (uVAX?) with a Mac-like user interface. I'm VERY interested in making contact with such a person(s) with an aim to discussing the machine-machine interface/protocol. I am working on a similar project for industrial automation. I plan to be in California from the 7 April to approx 12 April ('Frisco area) and if you cannot manage to reach me via the net (before 5 April), I can be contacted at the Four Seasons (Clift) hotel in the centre of San Fransisco. Alt. the industrial attachee's office at the Norwegian Consulate - tel 415 9860765. (If I'm not there please leave tel no.and I'll reply). PS. I'm in the Boston area from the 12-15 April - then back to Norway. Looking forward to "your" reply........
