Since I last posted UW to "net.sources.mac" (last November) I have received a pretty constant series of requests for it. In general I prefer to avoid multiple repostings, but I have been persuaded that it is called for in this case. I have limited the distribution to North America, since there are already redistribution mechanisms in place elsewhere (e.g. in Europe and Australia). I had hoped to have UW version 3.X ready for distribution by now, but the work on it is going more slowly than I had planned. Oh, for anyone who is wondering what UW is... UW is a software system consisting of a Macintosh program and (BSD) UNIX server which provides a window interface to a maximum of seven independent terminal sessions. Windows may be individually configured to emulate an ADM-31 (the most-debugged emulation), a VT52, or a Tek4010. (The Tek4010 emulation is known to be incomplete, particularly in its handling of crosshair reporting, but it is sufficient to create plots.) UW is copyrighted, but it is distributed free of charge (it may not be sold). The distribution includes the 4.2BSD server sources, but I do not distribute the sources for the Macintosh portion. -- John Bruner (S-1 Project, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory) MILNET: jdb@mordor [jdb@s1-c.ARPA] (415) 422-0758 UUCP: ...!ucbvax!dual!mordor!jdb ...!seismo!mordor!jdb
