Is anybody aware of software available (commercially or otherwise) to type Chinese characters on the Mac (and print). Ideally, that would be similar to what's available on the Xerox Star (user types romanization, the computer looks up for most likely characters, user selects the right one, or gives more information to disambiguate, etc..). Short of that, sources for bit maps (on the Mac or not) for the characters would be useful. Duo xie.

This information comes from various Apple Consortium publications: 1. The Beijing font Joel McNamara University of Utah 2. Feima-Chinese Wordprocessing on the Mac "Gene Wu of the Wu Corporation in Conneticut has developed a Chinese wordprocessing package for the Macintosh called FeiMa. Its features can be summarised as follows: 1. Dictionary of 2000 characters 2. Taiwanese font 3. 3 input methods - Chuang-Chi, emulation of Chines typewriter, and Wu's. 4. It partially utilises the Mac features i.e. it has pull-down menus. It is the first and only Chinese wordprocessor on the Macintosh and while not sophisticated, it is similar to a first generation wordprocessing package and is adequate to basic needs. FeiMa is between US$300 and US$400... the address is Wu Corporation, 46 West Avon Road, Ct 06001.
