I find these books to be very good for 2 reasons: 1) It gives a novice a good foothold to start on learning Mac internals. This is how I learned. I couldn't understand IM when I first started, and the Mac Rvld books gave a SSLLOOOOWWWWW introduction to ALL topics. Since I program my applications in fortran (Microsoft V2.2), the examples do not run for me as shown anyway. 2) The Mac Rvld and IM books compliment each other. Each has typos and bugs and when I try something new, I look in BOTH to see what they say. This way, if they say the same thing, I know it is probably right. If either says differently, I can try BOTH cases, not just scratch my had and give up! This is show with the docs on SYSBEEP. IM says arg is ticks, Mac Revld says arg is SECONDS. We all know it is ticks NOW, but when I was coding this at 3AM, I saw Mac Rvld say seconds, and started looking though Sound driver docs for a diff call!!!! It can happen, both sets save time!!!! By the way, the new IM books (I have hardback) are great!!!!! Phil Hunt *** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE ***
