Some one recently posted an article to mod.mac describing a problem with the interrupt key on the macplus. The problem was basically this, when you hit the interrupt key, the mac hangs. When you reset or power on and off, the screen comes up dark without even showing a sad mac. One of the first things I did when I got my mac plus was to hit the interrupt key (so I'm a degenerate). The above symptoms occurred, and I just about s**t. After trying several things, I finally removed the programmer's switch, and the problem went away. When I tryed to hit the interrupt button again, problems again. Then I got brilliant and figured that maybe the interrupt switch was continuously pressing the button. Bending back the interrupt part of the programmer's switch fixed the problem. Now I'm always careful to pull out the interrupt button a little every time I push it in. Hope this helps someone avoid frustration. Along these same lines, how about some good memory locations to use with the mini debugger? I have already used the exittoshell address which was posted recently, and it works great. Other nice locations would be sound levels, for instance. I was recently using a game which hung, but left a god awful noise coming out of the speaker. Not having any sound programs handy, I had to reboot. I would have been nice to enter the mini debugger, and clobbered a value in memory to make it stop. Any interesting memory locations which can be addressed from the mini debugger would be appreciated. Patrick Phillips Reed College ..!tektronix!reed!phillips
