I've noticed several recent articles regarding problems with Microsoft Word. In the current issue of MacUser there is an excellent article describing how to use Microsoft Word and all the problems most new users seem to have. The main problem that most people seem to have with running heads is the concept that of the ruler. When you use a ruler on a normal paragraph the 0 mark corresponds to the left hand margin; when you use a ruler with a running head the 0 mark corresponds to the left edge of the paper. There are many other problems with running heads that are best addressed by the article. The author does admit that it took him several long distance phone calls to Microsoft to learn how to use the program. -- ---- David Whiteman, University of California, San Diego
