[net.micro.mac] site "dillo" is dead. mail to darin@dillo or werner@dillo ...

werner@ut-ngp.UUCP (Werner Uhrig) (05/03/86)

unfortunately, site DILLO is very sick and, probably, won't recover.
so if any of you have been sending replies to any of our recent articles
(Darin Adler (darin@dillo) or Werner Uhrig (werner@dillo))
please remail them to this (my) address (Darin has no other account at this
time). I enclose an article I posted to INFO-MAC with more details.

so sorry for the inconvenience, ---Werner

Subject: please DON'T send mail to darin%dillo@ut-ngp ...
To: info-mac@R20.UTEXAS.EDU.#Internet

well, it had to happen, Murphy came to visit and makes me eat my words.

just after having posted a few of Darin's recent contributions to the
public domain, and letting you know where you can get in touch with him
on this net .... DILLO's memory went west, maybe, NEVER to return again !!!

which leaves Darin without other net-access and all your mail to him either
in limbo, bouncing back to you as "undeliverable", or in a "black hole",
somewhere west of Nirvana ...

for the next 2 weeks while Darin is still here in Austin, I will make sure
Darin stays informed about any postings on the net, and any mail for him
sent to me will reach him, and replies will get back to the sender.
(if you use a Subject-line: "for Darin - Personal", or similar, I guarantee
that I won't, even accidentally, read it - in case anyone cares)

after this period, Darin will be gone for the summer to the Chicago area,
and, unless, someone there is interested and able to create a Guest-account
for him on some (*ANY*) network-connected machine, this might well turn into
a dull summer ..... no postings from Darin; images of how dull reading the
paper was during the 2 years Gary Trudeau didn't write his "Doonesbury" ...
it simply wouldn't be the same (not that Darin's contribution are comparable,
in any way, to the comic-strip, you understand. what I am comparing is how
much he would be missed (by me, at least).
