DURHAM (AP) -- Garlic can reduce high blood pressure, according to research conducted by a North Carolina Central University alumna and two NCCU professors. Doretha B. Foushee, Dr. John Ruffin and Dr. Umesh Banerjee said that a garlic extract administered to hypertensive rats produced a sustained decrease in blood pressure. The report was given to the August meeting of the Botanical Society of America and in an article in the British biomedical journal Cytobios.
