I have had major crashes running the following configuration: System 3.2b4 Finder 5.3b3 Switcher 4.9 Macwrite 4.5 on the Mac+. I load both Macwrite and the Finder into the Switcher, giving the Finder 250K and MacWrite 350k. Of course, I suppose I am asking for trouble running the "b" versions, but I had hoped that the most recent stuff would be most free of bugs!! First, if Switcher is the startup application, and the application set is called "switcher.startup", the finder crashes, upon startup, putting me into the debugger. However, I can get the finder to run by launching it from the switcher, which gives it 192k of memory. (why 192k...this is a strange number....). Second I had two of my disks mysteriously trashed (e.g. when I insert them it gives me the "initialize" dialog box). The file directory or boot block (???) seems to have been destroyed. I wonder if the finder can't properly update these items when running under the switcher??? Since I don;'t have any software that fixes HFS disks, (MacTools 5.2 doesn't work...) These disks are irreparably trashed as far as I can tell... I also had similar problems when using System 3.1.1 Finder 5.2 however, the finder seems to correctly boot upon "switcher startup" in this case. But one often has problems trying to boot the Finder from Switcher... it seems to get a strange number for the "minimum memory size" from someplace, and then crashes even if you change this number to something reasonable I find this trashing scary, and I'm not getting rid of my MFS data disks yet!! Any ideas about whats going on ??? Jim Meiss ut-ngp Moral: DON'T run the FINDER from the SWITCHER
