I did get some response to my news article about Connie Francis and rape laws that I posted to net.politics, and a surprising (to me) majority of people were in favor of the "guilty but insane" plea as a replacement for the "innocent/guilty by reason of insanity". But one reply noted that there should not be any "rape laws" as such anyway. Here is the relevant section of the letter for your enjoyment: /* 2 -- Rape should be wholly under the assault laws. Statistically, men are far and away the primary victims of assault and murder. Unless rape is to be considered a fate worse than death (NOTHING is worse than death), separate rape laws trivialize the problems of men (a REAL man can take being stabbed to death, I suppose). */ Anyone care to bite on that one?
