[net.misc] A caret by any other name is "^"

rvpalliende (12/13/82)

^ is not a carrot nor a carat, but a caret.
And it is so wherever English is spoken, (or better, spelled)
not just at Waterloo.
(Read aloud the first sentence to an unsuspecting third party and
see what happens)

After having marked 85 term projects, I would be pleased if anybody
could even spell "carrot", "caret", or "carat". I would give a
20 "^" diamond for this minor blessing.
