[net.micro.mac] Want a good Joy Stick for the Mac

earlw@pesnta.UUCP (Earl Wallace) (06/17/86)

I have the Microsoft Flight Simulator and find that "flying" with a mouse
just doesn't make it, you know? After calling about 10 billion computer
stores, I found a one joy stick unit that works with the MAC. When you
move the stick, it causes the cursor to move at a pre-determined rate in the
direction of the stick movement but returning the stick back to "home" will
not result in the cursor following that action. This joy stick is quite
different from the normal mouse.

I want to find a joy stick that acts like the mouse, but looks and feels like
a stick. I wonder why no one has thought of this before?

A joystick made by Level 7 for $39 from Icon Review is great. You connect it
to the mouse port, then can connect the mouse to the joystick if you want
both.

A joystick and convwerter is made by Kette group (MacNifty people). I haven't
tested it, but is says you can use their joystick or plug any joystick that
has a DB-9 connecter on it (Atari, Colecovision etc) into the converter. It
runs $59 from them.

The Kraft QuickStick has two settings... one where it moves just like a
mouse, and the other where, once you release the stick, it returns to
center. I got it specifically for the Flight Simulator, also. It is a
little kludgey to switch between the two, and annoyingly, it seems that if
you pull it too far out, you alter the center position; but it's about the
best thing out there at the moment.
