A while back, I posted an article describing what I thought was an incompatibility between the new ROMs and the old keypad. That article is included at the end of this for those interested. This took quite a while to track down since, as a user, I am forbidden to talk to Apple. I talked to my dealer, who checked with Apple (locally) and was told that everything worked as it was supposed to, which by the way is what I was told prior to purchasing the upgrade. Well, obviously, it had to be my hardware. I scheduled to and brought my system in for a check-up, where we (dealer personnel and myself) spent a couple of hours determining that my hardware worked. The manager eventually called Apple Tech Support and was told that they were aware of a problem but didn't have or plan to have a fix. He asked me to give him time to talk to other Apple personnel to see what could be done. Well, it's all over now......Apple's answer is: "Yes, the 128K ROMs are incompatible with the Mac keypad but we're not going to fix it so buy MacPlus keyboard!" Now, I understand that those of us that bought the keypad are in a minority, but is that any reason for Apple to react with such arrogance. I purchased the upgrade in good faith and was, in fact, told by the Authorized Apple Dealer that my keyboard and keypad would work. The attitude that there aren't enough users with keypads to worry about is, in my humble opinion, assinine....We are, after all, Apple customers and one should be enough.
