[net.micro.mac] Flight Simulator Problems

Disclaimer: I'm not a pilot.

Has anyone else noticed some instrument flight anomilies with version 1.0 of
Microsoft's Flight Simulator for the Macintosh?

For instance, on an ILS approach to Champaign-Urbana the ADF points in a
direction other than towards where the ADF "should" point. I can't remember
the exact circumstances and if people can't recreate it, I'll pay better
attention the next time. But from what I remember, I came in from the west
turning left to 313(I believe the correct number for the Champaign ILS, I'm
working from memory here) and the ADF was off about 30-50 degress to the
left. The VOR needle was dead center and the magnetic heading was exactly
313. The ILS frequency I beleive I was using was 111.9 and the ADF frequency
was 407.

The approach plates to the various airports with ILS approaches do not
include the same information for each airport. The Champaign-Urbana
approach is the only one with an ADF frequency that I saw. Why have an ADF
if it is usable only at one field, and as I've mentioned above, it doesn't
work correctly there?

I've also noticed that especially around Oakland the VORs will turn OFF when
even though I'm well within their range. If I display the map, the VORs
turn on and work correctly, but as soon as I close the Map window the VORs
turn off again. This bug doesn't seems to appear and disappear, I can't
quite figure out what might be triggering it.

These are just a few of the things I've noticed with the program. I enjoy
buzzing around with the program, but I'm not real happy with the way the
"program" navigates on instruments. Any comments would be appreciated.

Disclaimer part 2: I really do enjoy the program. Hopefully the next
version of the program will fix these bugs, if they are program bugs and not
"pilot" bugs. I'm not a pilot, I guess you could call me an
armchair-book-hearsay type pilot. I just enjoy a good simulation now and
then. Besides the fuel is much cheaper.

Thanks
